Standard Chartered began operations in the US as the Chartered Bank in 1902. Since then, we have built a solid reputation for offering specialised banking products in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America to US based multi-national corporations and institutions. We are also one of the leading foreign banks clearing US Dollar payments in the Clearing House Inter-Bank Payments System (CHIPS).
In 1973 Standard Chartered established a presence in Latin America, opening an office in Buenos Aires. We now have offices throughout the continent, including the oldest correspondent banking franchise in Peru. Standard Chartered focuses mainly on providing cross-border services to those global corporations and international financial institutions that make up our Latin American core customer base.
