Ben brings over 10 years of experience in metals trading to Standard Chartered. He joins the Bank from Barclays Capital where he was also Head of Metals Trading in Asia. Prior to that, he was a Metal Derivatives Trader at Macquarie Bank Limited in London, New York and Sydney.
As Head of Metals Trading in Asia, Ben will lead the team responsible for capital commitment in the metals market in the Asia region. “I am very pleased to be joining Standard Chartered. I look forward to working with a team so well positioned to capitalise on the tremendous opportunities in the metals markets in Asia. Standard Chartered is a primary bank for many commodity corporates and an extension of the Bank’s risk taking capabilities in this time zone will serve these customers well. The Global Commodities business has shown strong performance in the past year and I intend to further this success,” said Ben Corbould.
“I am delighted that Ben has decided to join Standard Chartered Bank. His joining will bring a step change to our already fast growing metals business in Asia. This increases our team’s bench strength and enhances our product offering, enabling us to work closer with our clients. We see great opportunities to grow our metals franchise in Asia. Ben’s experience in Asia, and China especially, and his leadership of our Asian metals business will be invaluable in helping us achieve our aspiration to be the number one metals counterparty in our regional footprint, “said Jeremy East.
“We are happy to welcome Ben to Standard Chartered. His knowledge and experience will help us to better serve our mining and metals clients with even stronger product offerings,” said Conor McCoole, Head of Project & Export Finance in Asia.
