Remy Klammers was appointed as the new Global Head of Fixed Income Trading. This is a newly created position which will have responsibility for FX, Rates, Credit and Structured Products Trading. Remy will report directly to Lenny Feder, Group Head of Financial Markets.
Remy comes to Standard Chartered from Lehman Brothers where he was Managing Director Head of Structured Products Asia, based in Tokyo. Remy helped build a multi-asset structured products platform in Asia which involved trading, quants, sales, structuring and systems. Prior to that, Remy spent seven years at Goldman Sachs where he was a Partner and held a number of positions including Head of Structured Products Asia, European Head Interest Rate Products and Co-Head of Equity Structured Products and Structured Credit Europe. Remy began his career with Paribas as a quant and FX exotics trader.
“Remy’s appointment, together with the new members of his team, adds critical mass to the Bank’s efforts to build fixed income and structured products trading capability,” said Lenny Feder. ”This cutting edge model has been used regionally, but never on a global basis and will fundamentally change the rate at which we build scale and sophistication in our product offering.”
“It’s a rare opportunity to join a bank at a time when it’s building a bigger and stronger Financial Markets engine to deal with client demand. Many other banks are putting expansion on hold due to turbulent markets. Standard Chartered continues to have ambitious growth plans and I’m delighted to be joining that effort,” said Remy.
Alexis Suzat has been appointed the new Global Head of Structured Products Trading. This is a new team that will pull together all of our structured equity, commodities, FX, interest rate and credit products. The group will focus on managing the higher order risks associated with structured products and new product development. They will work hand in hand with the FX, Rates, Credit, Equity and Commodity trading teams to ensure we provide one, competitive price to our clients.
Alexis joins from Lehman Brothers where he was Managing Director responsible for structured products trading in Asia. Prior to Lehman Brothers, Alexis was a portfolio manager at Brevan Howard Asia and senior trader at Goldman Sachs in Tokyo and Credit Suisse Financial Products in Tokyo, Sydney and Hong Kong. Alexis will report to Remy Klammers.
“Further strengthening the Structured Products trading capability is clearly a key priority for Standard Chartered,” said Alexis. “This will be a growth area for the Bank and I am looking forward to driving the effort to deliver enhanced capability to clients while maintaining the highest risk-management and control standards.”
Marten Agren is also joining as Global Head of Modelling and Analytics Group, Financial Markets. This group will include our existing Quantitative Development team and will have increased focus on the modelling and architecture development that is needed to support our growing product sophistication and volumes. Marten will report to the Chief Operating Officer for Financial Markets, a position that has yet to be filled.
Marten joins from Lehman Brothers, where he was Managing Director, Structured Products Trading Asia and was responsible for the implementation of a quant modelling, trading and risk management platform. Prior to Lehman Brothers, Marten worked at Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs in a variety of analytic and modelling roles.
The Bank is also making five other appointments in the Modelling and Analytics Group to further build out this capability.
”In Remy, Alexis and Marten we have hired the key manager, trader and quant/IT specialist who will form the backbone of the Structured Trading team. Together with Standard Chartered’s existing talent, these eight new appointments will give the Bank a differentiated position in this increasingly important area for our clients,” said Lenny.
Lenny Feder joined the Bank in July 2007. In December, he reorganized Financial Markets to encourage specialization and further drive product sophistication in the continuing effort to provide more value-added services to clients.
