Standard Chartered Private Equity announces USD 17.5 million investment in Mnet Media Corporation

Singapore, October 16, 2009 – Standard Chartered Private Equity Limited (“SCPE”) announced a USD 17.5 million investment in Mnet Media Corp. (“Mnet Media” or the “Company”), a leading media and music company in Korea.  CJ Corporation (“CJ”), the major shareholder of Mnet Media, will invest USD 8.7 million along with SCPE, bringing the total investment size to USD 26 million.

Headquartered in Seoul, Korea, Mnet Media operates paid-television broadcasting, music publishing, and online music services.  Mnet, the Company’s broadcasting brand, is the No.1 music TV channel in Korea with over 14 million viewers.  The TV programs are currently airing overseas including Japan, China, Thailand, and Taiwan.  The Company also operates online music store, Mnet.com with over 400,000 paid subscribers, and established the largest music publishing business in Korea.  Listed on KOSDAQ in 2006, Mnet Media is also the first company in the Korean music industry to reach over USD 100 million in revenues in 2008.  SCPE and CJ will invest in forms of convertible bonds (“CB”s) and bonds with warrants (“BW”s).  The new investments will enable the Company to accelerate its growth in both Korea and throughout Asia.
